Artists of the Month – October
Chilliwack Players Guild
The Chilliwack Players Guild has been part of the Chilliwack theatre tradition for well over sixty years (story has it the Guild may even date back to late 1931!). The Guild partners with the Chilliwack Cultural Centre, where it performs its many productions from the immensely popular British Pub Nights to top notch plays such as The Gin Game, Chapter Two, Gypsy, and the upcoming production of A Flea in Her Ear. The Guild and its members are long-time members of the Chilliwack Community Arts Council, and of Theatre BC.
The Guild’s membership is made up of local residents who are interested in theatre — on stage as well as behind the scenes. If you have a desire to “tread the boards” on stage, or if your interest lies in helping out with costumes, makeup, set painting, ushering, or any of the many opportunities involved in a production, you are more than welcome to join the team. Its members are an active part of our community, and for many years have donated an annual scholarship to a talented University Fraser Valley theatre student.
For those interested in attending a Guild meeting, they are generally held at 7:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month, October through June, in the Guild’s home at the Guildhall (45530 Spadina Avenue in Chilliwack).
A Flea in Her Ear – running November 16, 2017 – November 25, 2017
A hilarious farce that takes place in Paris during the early 1900s. The plot revolves around mistaken identities, a seedy hotel, a plot to catch a cheating spouse, sexual innuendo, and slamming doors – all resulting in an avalanche of comic chaos! Flea in Her Ear has been staged hundreds of times by professional and community theatre companies all around the world. Feydeau is known for witty dialogue, fast paced action, outlandish characters, and rapid fire plot twists.
