Artist of the Month – August
Born in Leicester, England, multi-media artist and instructor, John LeFlock, came to Canada in 1958. He worked as a newspaper artist and upon graduation, left the Times Newspaper to work for BC Hydro. Working his way up from his position as a meter reader to electrical designer, John worked many varied jobs within the company until his retirement.
Honing his skills for creating photorealistic artwork and instructing his fellow artistic souls, John began teaching at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve. He now plans and facilitates classes in multiple artistic mediums for schools, home school groups, seniors, and families.
John is particularly passionate about teaching students the foundational drawing techniques that are vital to creating any work of art. He believes that the possibilities are endless with a strong set of drawing skills, both in the artistic sense of creating artwork and beyond to technical applications.
John can be found instructing local artists at multiple locations around the Fraser Valley including: The Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve, Julie Anne’s Art & Framing, Fraser Valley Distant Education, Greendale Elementary School, Cultus Lake Elementary School, Fraser Valley Continuing Education, Fraser Valley Brain Injury Association, Sardis Library, and Abbotsford Library.
